  • Process if Interested (for First Time Directors):  In our commitment to be more transparent and formalizing processes, we have a new system in place for those interested in becoming a NEW Support Director:
    1. Reach out.  If you are interested in possbily becoming a Program or Unit Support Director this summer, email Chad or Shannon to let them know.  This will allow us to start to the conversation, get you on the Directing radar, and answer any preliminary querstions you might have.
    2. Complete the Interest Form:   Consider this an application to be a support director.  Fill out this Support Director Interest Form that will give the staff a better understanding of why you want to be a support staff and answer a few questions we have.
    3. Schedule a Time to Chat:   A Camp staff &/or a current volunteer director will schedule a time to chat with you about your answers and the role.   WHY?   We do this to ensure the role is right fit for you and that you are a right fit for the role.  It's like we said at your initial volunteer interview, this role isn't right for everyone.   Just because you are a great counselor doesn't mean those skills will transition to being a support director.  The position moves from connecting with and helping to grow campers to a role that supports staff in those efforts, through coaching & feedback.   We want to create this opporutunity to have an open conversation about the realities of the position.
    4. Next Steps:  If you and the Camp staff are both in agreement that this is a match and a transition to the Support Staff role is a good idea, we will ask you to fill out the Summer Directing Preference form for summer that all returning support directors complete.  This allows us to ensure we get coversage by Volunteer Support Directors at every session, and that everyone gets a spot.  Once all forms have been received, we will make assignments and let you know your session.

  • Returning Support Director Process:   In our commitment to be more transparent and formalizing processes, we wanted to clearly lay out the current and new systems for Director Sign-ups at Sessions
    • Summer Camp:   In Spring, you will receive the Summer Directing Perfence form to complete.  This tells us IF you want to direct, how many sessions, what directing roles you are interested in, and which sessions you are available to do.   Once all forms have been received, we will make assignments and let you know your session, doing our best to ensure all those interested in directing are able to direct at least ONE session that summer.
    • Winter WOLP:   *NEW*  We have previously lacked a formal process for selecting Winter WOLP support staff as the need was greater than the available staff, meaning anyone interested had a spot.  Thankfully, that is no longer the case!  We have more volunteers who are eligible to be support staff at Winter WOLP then we have spots!  Hence, we needed an actual process.  To make this as fair as possible, we will begin doing a Winter WOLP Support Director lottery as well.  Those eligible directors will sign up for this in UltraCamp the same way staff sign up for the Cabin and Activity lottery for WOLP.    Eligibility - to be eligible to be a support Director at Winter WOLP you need to have been a director at a previous Summer Session or the previous Winter WOLP..
