What began with search and tour in 2012 has grown into years of heartfelt support for RMHOC. Learn how the Sandelmans’ ongoing commitment—and planned gift—is making a lasting impact for families in need.

Meet Bob and Bev Sandelman — In 2012, they were looking for a charity to support. Bob’s company had done market research in the restaurant industry —including McDonald’s— and knew the Ronald McDonald House existed but didn’t know what it was all about. So, a quick website search led them to the “Adopt-A-Room Program” that led to a tour of the House, where they met with the then Executive Director and decided to adopt Room 8.

“We are impacted every month when we receive a letter[...] about the importance of the rooms we adopted. The Thank You notes that are included in that mailing greatly reinforce our decision to support the charity because of its lasting impact on the families it serves,” shares Bob. A few years after their initial “Adopt-A-Room" sponsorship, the Sandelmans adopted a sleep room at Ronald McDonald Family Room®-CHOC at Mission, and Bob joined the Ronald McDonald House® Orange County (RMHOC) Board of Trustees for seven years before terming off in 2019.

The Sandelmans have always believed in giving back to their community and are grateful to have the financial resources to do so. “We support a few important charities that we have included in our will. In addition to RMHOC, we support the Segerstrom Center for the Arts as well as our church, St. Andrew’s By The Sea United Methodist Church in San Clemente."

“It feels wonderful knowing that our gifts will live on after we are gone,” shares Bob. Their children and grandchildren know of their involvement and commitment to RMHOC, and Bob and Bev hope their example inspires their family and others. To those considering their own legacy, they offer this encouragement: “If you have the resources to support a charity you care about, we hope you'll consider RMHOC. When you understand how important the mission is to keep families close in their times of need, you realize that any level of support —now or in the future—can truly make a difference.
