Our Houses provide a home-like setting, close to the region's top hospitals, where families can stay free-of charge for as long as necessary.

Ruth Wu

Director of Development

Born and raised in Singapore, Ruth graduated from Pepperdine University where she majored in Communications and Public Relations.  Over the course of her post-graduate professional life, she has cultivated a passion for service and communication, applying her diverse skill sets to the fields of public relations, journalism, marketing, and fundraising. Her career started at grassroots a non-profit in South Los Angeles where she was responsible for overseeing 50 afterschool sites scattered throughout Compton, Watts and Inglewood.

In 2014, Ruth joined Ronald McDonald House Orange County as Volunteer Manager and was then promoted to Special Events Manager and in the beginning of this year, took on the role as the Director of Development where she oversees the charity’s fundraising initiatives, marketing and communications.

As a child, Ruth was diagnosed with a chronic blood condition and experienced firsthand what it was like to be in a hospital away from her parents. To this end, she works tirelessly to ensure that when a child is hospitalized with a critically ill condition, their family will never have to be too far away. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling the world (including an annual trip to Singapore to visit family), playing “mom” to her dog, Duke and checking out the food scene in and around Los Angeles and Orange County.

Narleen Depauw

Development Manager, Individual and Corporate Engagement

Narleen has worked in event production and management for over 25+ years.  Since music was her first love, she owned a vocal studio and performance company, and has toured all over Southern CA and Hawaii.  She has worked as an event coordinator for the GRAMMY’s, primarily with the LA Chapter, for numerous events, movie screenings and awards shows.  Most notably, she has served as an event manager for Concordia University Irvine for the past 12+ years, creating and managing recruitment events for both graduate and undergraduate programs within Admissions.  She has been married for 9 years to her Green Bay native husband, John (who made her into a Packer fan) and together they have three beautiful children, Narielle, Alenna Kalea and their precious son, Gerard, who earned his angel wings, nearly 4 years ago.  She has a very big heart for RMHCSC, because of her experiences with the OC house during her journey with Gerard and Alenna.  She is so excited and honored to join the Development Team, and use all her experiences (both professional and real-life) in her new role.  In her spare time, she and John own and manage a home business… “Sweet Gerard’s Bakery”, named and built in loving memory of their son.  When she isn’t busy in the kitchen, she simply enjoys spending time with her family and friends: eating, crafting, singing, hula, and of course, cheering on the Packers!
