On Sunday, April 8th, the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House hosted its annual Walk for Kids at Exposition Park. Over 4,000 people were in attendance, helping the House raise $300,000!

Families kicked off one of the House’s biggest fundraiser of the year with a variety of entertaining activities for both parents and their kids. Activities included face painting, caricature artists, a photo booth station, rock climbing and much more. Guests also enjoyed all kinds of snacks at different booths, provided by some of our amazing sponsors!

As the morning continued, walkers enjoyed some music, dancing and, of course, meeting Ronald McDonald himself!

A portion of the morning included CEO, Vince Bryson, honoring the top contributors of the Walk, including the top fundraiser, Douglas Kanner. Douglas was given the first ever Katlyn Oaks award, presented by the Oaks family. This was given in honor of their daughter, Katlyn, who once stayed at the House. Although Katlyn is no longer with us, her memory will live on through this award.

After the awards were presented, the celebration continued as teams and individuals lined up to officially start the 5K around Exposition Park. Throughout the walk route, volunteers cheered on the walkers, handed out waters and even created a “bubble forest” for people to walk through!

As individuals and teams crossed the finish line, walkers made their way back to the field to continue all the fun activities awaiting them.

It was a morning of celebration, as many came out to support past, present and future families of the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House. Thank you to all our walk teams, volunteers and sponsors for helping put on another successful Walk for Kids and for helping provide families a “home away from home.”
