The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California (RMHCSC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director for the Inland Empire Ronald McDonald House (IERMH) located in Loma Linda. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Director will lead with energy, innovation, and a commitment to the organization’s mission of providing comfort, care, and support to families with seriously ill children.

RMHCSC operates seven Ronald McDonald Houses, three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, and Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times, making it the largest RMHC chapter in the nation. With a $20+ million operating budget, the organization serves as a vital resource for families across Southern California.

About IERMH

The Inland Empire Ronald McDonald House, with a 53-room facility and a $2.3 million annual budget, provides a home-away-from-home for up to 53 families daily, serving over 1,600 guests annually with an average stay of 39 nights

Position Overview
As an integral member of the RMHCSC Leadership Team, the Executive Director will play a key role in stewarding the overall organization while leading the Inland Empire Ronald McDonald House program.

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and success of the Inland Empire Ronald McDonald House. This role encompasses operational excellence, fundraising, community engagement, and board development, all aligned with RMHCSC’s strategic goals.

The Executive Director works in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Trustees (an advisory board vs. the RMHCSC Board of Directors, which is the governing fiduciary board).  The current Executive Director, Karen Hooper, has announced her retirement in the Spring of 2025 after over 18 successful years with the IERMH.

Responsibilities

Key Areas of Responsibility Include:

House Operations & Family Care

  • Ensure the delivery of outstanding, family-centered programs and services consistent with the mission and policies of RMHCSC and RMHC Global.
  • Oversee daily operations, creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with medical providers to seamlessly integrate family services.
  • Monitor and manage the facility’s replacement reserves for long-term maintenance and capital improvements.

Team Leadership

  • Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Lead and develop staff and volunteers through goal-setting, professional development, and recognition initiatives.
  • Identify the staffing needs for the IERMH and oversee recruitment of talented individuals for each role with the support of Chapter HR.

Development & Fundraising

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet the House’s financial goals, with a focus on diversifying revenue sources.
  • Oversee major events, including Walk for Kids, the annual gala, and the golf tournament, ensuring their success and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors, corporations, organizations, foundations, and the IE McDonald Owner/Operators to expand support.
  • Ensure effective use of donor management systems like Raiser’s Edge.
  • Develop and oversee tailored solicitation programs to attract, retain, and motivate donors and volunteers.
  • Direct the development and writing of foundation, corporate, organization, and government proposals/grants, and solicitation materials.
  • Supervise handling of all donated income and ensure proper routing of monies to bookkeeper for deposit, processing, batch reporting, and sending off to Chapter. Ensure the same for in-kind donations and gift card tracking.
  • Oversee and drive the Planned Giving Program.  Cultivating potential donors in this area.
  • Supervise acknowledgement of all gifts and ensures acknowledgement letters and/or receipts are issued as appropriate
  • Ensure timely donor acknowledgments, stewardship, and recognition.

Board Development & Leadership Collaboration

  • Partner with the Board of Trustees to drive engagement, fundraising, and governance.
  • Strengthen connections between the board and RMHCSC’s overarching mission.
  • Identify and recruit potential trustees to enhance board effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with fellow Leadership Team members by actively participating in our weekly meetings and being open to sharing resources and best practices throughout RMHCSC.

Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Prepare and manage the annual budget, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities. Review the House Maintenance (reserve/replacement) study to ensure budget includes project costs as it applies to replace/repairs.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local nonprofit regulations.
  • Provide regular reports to the CEO and board to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Review annually, update as needed, and submit the reserve report to Chapter.

Marketing & Community Engagement

  • Lead local marketing and communication efforts to enhance IERMH’s visibility.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the House, building relationships with community stakeholders, medical partners, and media.
  • Oversee social media and outreach strategies to increase awareness and support.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7-10 years in senior leadership, with nonprofit management experience preferred.
  • Proven track record in major gift fundraising and donor cultivation, with capital campaign experience a plus.
  • Exceptional strategic, organizational, and financial management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Inland Empire’s philanthropic landscape preferred.
  • A bachelor’s and an advanced degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms, particularly Raiser’s Edge, is highly desirable.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Compensation
The position offers a competitive salary range of $145,000 to $160,000, plus up to 10% performance-based bonus and a comprehensive benefits package
