Summary
Our mission at the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California (RMHCSC) is to provide comfort, care and support to children and families in Southern California. To achieve our vision of creating a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm and joy. RMHCSC operates seven Ronald McDonald Houses, and three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, along with Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times.
The Marketing and Communications Manager is a member of Ronald McDonald House Los Angeles’ Development Team, responsible for developing and executing marketing and communication initiatives appropriate to the organization's fund development plan and philanthropic mission.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update LARMH social media accounts with relevant and engaging content.
- Provide engaging and emotionally safe content for various communication channels, including websites, social media (video and photo), e-blast newsletters, and other promotional collateral.
- Film and edit promotional reels and other multimedia content to enhance the organization’s online presence.
- Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all platforms.
- Create and maintain content calendar.
- Partner with Family-Centered Care team on the gathering of family stories for use in digital and print communications. Demonstrate high emotional intelligence and sensitivity when interacting and capturing content of the families and children served by Ronald McDonald House Los Angeles.
- Provide support to Ronald McDonald House Los Angeles’ signature annual event, There’s No Place Like Home Gala, by creating and maintaining event collateral. Work with event print/mail vendors for timely submission of event printed materials.
- Work with Director of Development and Executive Director to create digital campaign collateral – for instance, Mother’s Day, Giving Tuesday, Year-End/Season of Giving etc.
- Create and maintain other organization collateral pieces such as tour folders, notecards, brochures, and letterhead.
- In partnership with RMHCSC team, update and maintain Ronald McDonald House Los Angeles’ website with fresh content, news, events, and success stories.
- Act as a brand steward, upholding RMHCSC standards and consistency in all projects.
- Demonstrate ability to work with other staff, volunteers, and families in a collaborative and compassionate manner.
- Demonstrate adaptability to take on additional responsibilities, as needed, to support Ronald McDonald House Los Angeles initiatives.

Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor's degree or 5 years related work experience in a non-profit marketing and communications and/or development department.
Knowledge and Skills:
Requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and time management skills. General knowledge and demonstrated experience with accounting procedures; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff, volunteers, donors, and the general public. Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.

Language Skills:
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a variety of constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, and the general public. Spanish speaking abilities is a plus.
Computer Skills:
Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Raiser’s Edge
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
