Our mission at the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California (RMHCSC) is to provide comfort, care and support to children and families in Southern California. To achieve our vision of creating a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm and joy, RMHCSC operates six Ronald McDonald Houses and two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, along with Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times.

Position Summary
Reporting directly to the IERMH Director of Mission Delivery, the Marketing and Communication Assistant supports the execution of mission-centered marketing and communications initiatives that elevate the visibility, storytelling, and brand integrity of IERMH. Reporting to the Director of Mission Delivery, this role plays a key supporting function in content creation, digital marketing, internal communications, and campaign execution, ensuring all materials align with RMHC brand standards and the mission of keeping families close.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Content Creation & Mission Storytelling

  • Develop and support content for social media, newsletters, website updates, and internal communications.
  • Assist in drafting family stories, mission moments, volunteer highlights, and program spotlights.
  • Edit and proof content to ensure clarity, tone, accuracy, and brand alignment.

Digital & Visual Marketing

  • Design graphics and visual assets using Canva in alignment with RMHC Global Brand Standards.
  • Assist with social media scheduling, posting, and engagement across approved platforms.
  • Support website content updates and basic content management as assigned.

Campaigns, Events & Program Support

  • Support marketing needs for fundraising events, campaigns, and onsite activations.
  • Assist with photography, content capture, and post-event storytelling.
  • Coordinate with Development, Programs, and Volunteer Engagement to support mission visibility.

Administrative & Project Support

  • Maintain content calendars, digital asset libraries, and project trackers.
  • Assist with basic marketing performance reporting and analytics.
  • Support internal communications that strengthen alignment and organizational culture.

Education, Work Experience, Knowledge, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, or a related field preferred.
  • Two to four years of relevant experience. Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills required.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, write, and interpret general business correspondence, reports, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Computer Skills

  • Preferred experience using modern office productivity tools, including but not limited to Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Canva, Constant Contact, analytic software, and comparable platforms.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record required to operate company vehicles, as needed.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, you must be willing to work independently. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
