Our Houses

Since 1980, the Southern California Ronald McDonald Houses serve as a inexpensive, and often free, “home–away–from–home” for families of critically–ill children undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals and medical facilities.

Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times

Each year Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times serves an average of 1,500 campers who are children with cancer so they can take a break from hospitals and find an opportunity to just be “ordinary kids.”

Family Rooms

Our Ronald McDonald Family Rooms provide an “oasis” within the hospital for parents with children in pediatric or neonatal intensive care units; allowing them a chance to sleep, shower and recharge while remaining within steps of their hospitalized child.

Scholarships & Grants

We support the children of our Southland communities by awarding scholarships to high–achieving high school seniors and providing grants to non–profit organizations working to improve the lives of children.

Academic Scholarships Application Process Opens in October 2017

Since 1990, RMHCSC has helped pave the way toward higher education for more than 3,400 exceptional Southern California students, providing more than $5.7 million funds to help ease the financial burden of college tuition, fees, and educational expenses. RMHCSC funds scholarships to local students as part of its ongoing commitment to education. The McDonald’s Operators’ Association of Southern California funds the administrative costs needed to make the Southern California scholarship program possible.

Applications for the 2017-2018 program will be available in October 2017

Scholarships

$250,000 Awarded

More than $250,000 in scholarships are awarded annually to eligible high school seniors who reside and attend school in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties.

Recipients must demonstrate academic excellence, leadership skills and a commitment to their communities. See our programs below to find the scholarship that is most applicable to you.

Ronald McDonald House Charities/Hispanic American Commitment to Educational Resources

Ronald McDonald House Charities/Hispanic American Commitment to Educational Resources (RMHC/HACER)

This scholarship recognizes Southland Hispanic high school seniors for demonstrating excellence in academics and financial need to pursue a higher education. Since its creation in 1990, RMHC/HACER has awarded nearly $3.2 million in scholarships to more than 1,800 students.

Ronald McDonald House Charities/African-American Future Achievers

Ronald McDonald House Charities/African-American Future Achievers

This program Southern California African-American high school seniors who plan to make an impact in their communities. Students submit an essay describing their community service and leadership abilities and how their future endeavors will benefit society. RMHC/Future Achievers has funded nearly 650 students with nearly $900,000 in scholarships.

Ronald McDonald House Charities/Asian-Pacific American Students Increasing Achievement (ASIA)

This scholarship program pays tribute to high school seniors of Asian Pacific descent. Students must submit an essay detailing their leadership skills and community service, along with a letter of recommendation from a nonprofit community-based organization. In addition to the scholarship, a $500 honorarium is awarded to the community-based organization of each recipient's choice. RMHC/ASIA has given nearly $1 million to more than 580 students since it began.

This scholarship is open to all high school seniors demonstrating excellence in academics, character, leadership, and financial need. Since it began, RMHC/Scholars has awarded more than 260 scholarships totaling more than $500,000.
