The Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House will usher in a new era, Monday, May 21st, 1 pm with a groundbreaking event for the 100% capacity increase expansion of the house.

The launch of the expansion of BRMH will take place on the grounds of the existing house at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. Light refreshments will be served. The public is invited.

Since the founding of the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House in 2009, the house has become a vital part of the Kern County healthcare community, working closely with Bakersfield Memorial Hospital and other regional medical centers to support families who are caring for a sick or injured child. BRMH provides every amenity to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests during a time of crisis, including warm meals, fellowship with other families and a caring community of volunteers. 

According to Capital Campaign Chairman George Culver, "The existing Bakersfield Ronald McDonald house has certainly served families these last 9 years, but the need is much greater now and we need to keep pace with our growing community".

Much of the demand on BRMH is tied to the recent expansions by Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, including the Grossman Burn Center and the Robert A. Grimm Children's Pavilion for Emergency Services. 

Expanding the BRMH will increase the capacity by more than 100%, from 3 guest rooms to 6 guest rooms and a napping room.

It's estimated that the expansion will provide access to an additional 500 guests annually, plus provide more space for volunteers to prepare meals and arrange activities for guests.

The cost savings for families staying at the BRMH is an estimated $500,000 a year annually in their out of pocket hotel and meal costs. The nurturing environment BRMH provides is priceless.

The cost to build our wonderful new Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House is approximately   $500,000. The community is being asked to support this much-needed expansion. Donations large and small will be gratefully accepted.
