Three is a magic number... Meet the McSherry family! When their triplets were born, parents Erica and Jason had to navigate the challenges of going back and forth to be with their newborns.
"This was such a stressful time in our lives, and we spent every possible moment at the hospital. We lived three hours away from the hospital, and I had no idea how we would have been able to make it work," recalls Erica.
They found their home away from home with Ronald McDonald House® Orange County – staying for 33 days after the triplets' birth. "It meant the world to have a place like home so close to the hospital and our babies to be able to go to at the end of the day."
Their connection with the House deepened when their son, Max, required major surgery nearly a year later. “Getting a good night's sleep 3 hours from home meant the world,” says Erica. Once again, RMHOC opened its doors, offering support and comfort in the community of families going through similar challenges. “I still keep in touch with a woman and her family who were staying there at the same time as us. Our babies have the same birthday!”
Grateful for the support they received, the McSherrys are doing well and dedicated to giving back. "We are doing great. The kids are growing like weeds. You wouldn’t even know they were born at 29 weeks. My family has donated on our behalf on multiple occasions, and I will always try and give back whenever possible.”
