The Long Beach Ronald McDonald House (LBRMH) proudly announces the grand reopening of its newly remodeled kitchen - a place where comfort, connection, and community come together. Made possible through the generosity of Pam and Keith Shukait and the Gene and Patricia Carter Family Foundation, this warm and welcoming space has been transformed to serve as the “heart of the house,” offering families a place to gather, find solace, and share in moments of togetherness.
The redesigned kitchen is more than a meal prep area; it’s a sanctuary where families can pause and connect amidst challenging times. Here, families share meals, create lasting memories, and draw support from one another. The kitchen also brings joy through the contributions of volunteers who prepare and serve meals each day, allowing families to focus on what matters most: their children’s health and healing.
The LBRMH is proud to recognize Paul Fernandez, Kitchen Koncierge, Ann Sacks Tile, Architectural Surfaces, Graff Design, and Plumb Anything for their exceptional contributions to the kitchen renovation. These vendors played a vital role in the project’s success, demonstrating remarkable generosity by donating all or a portion of their services. Their kindness helped transform the functionality of this space for families, reflecting their genuine commitment to supporting the community.
Since its opening in December 2011, LBRMH has welcomed nearly 22,000 families, offering comfort, essential services, and a supportive community during their most challenging times. With 23 rooms, LBRMH operates on a simple principle: when a family is focused on their child’s health, they should not worry about where they will stay, what they will eat, or where they can find rest. As part of Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California (RMHCSC), LBRMH is dedicated to being a haven for families, bridging the gap between hospital and home.
