A little pampering, a lot of love: meet Mernie Empalmado
Meet Mernie Empalmado, a 2025 MakeSense Foundation Charity Ambassador whose generosity has brought comfort and care to families at RMHOC. “Supporting Ronald McDonald House really touches my heart. I’ve seen how much comfort and hope it gives families going through such difficult times,” she shares.
With a heart for giving, Mernie has brought together a community to help assemble and donate beauty kits for moms staying at the House. “For me, even something as simple as giving a mom a little pampering, like a tube of LipSense, can be a gentle reminder of her strength, beauty, and the powerful gift of motherhood. It’s those small acts of love that can lift someone’s spirit in the middle of so much uncertainty.”

Her impact doesn’t stop there! Mernie also helped secure a grant from the MakeSense Foundation, making it possible to host monthly Beauty Bus Pop-Ups at the House. These special events provide moments of care, where parents, siblings and family members can enjoy haircuts, massages, makeovers, and more. In the midst of their child’s recovery journey, these moments offer more than pampering – they remind families that their wellbeing is just as important as the loved one they’re taking care of. See the joy and care in action here and here.

When asked what inspired her, Mernie says, “I’d encourage anyone to get involved in their area. I believe every bit of kindness makes a difference for these families.” Her story is a reminder that every act of kindness matters - whether it’s volunteering, fundraising, or sharing your talents, you can bring hope and joy to families when they need it most.
