A Safe Haven for Eric’s Family
Eric’s infectious smile and laughter light up Ronald McDonald House® Pasadena where he and his family have found a home away from home for the past five years. At 17, Eric’s journey to the U.S. to receive specialized medical care has been transformative, not just for his health, but for his entire family.
“We never imagined we’d meet people going through the same things,” Eric’s mother shares. In their home country, families like theirs often feel isolated, with limited support for children with disabilities. Eric couldn’t even attend school due to lack of accommodations. But at the Ronald McDonald House, they’ve discovered a community of understanding and hope. Eric’s father, Ramon, describes the House as “a safe haven.” He explains, “We don’t have to worry about where we’re going to sleep or what we’re going to eat. We can just focus on our son.” This peace of mind has been crucial, especially as the family navigated a 12-year struggle to find proper care for Eric before coming to the U.S. Since arriving, Eric’s progress has been remarkable!
Once dependent on his parents for most tasks, he can now eat independently, write, and read. His natural charm shines through as he jokes that his smile is “contagious” — and anyone who meets Eric would certainly agree! The Ronald McDonald House has become more than just a place to stay; it’s where Eric and his family have found friendship, support, and renewed hope. “If a place like this didn’t exist, we wouldn’t be able to be here,” says Ramon. “If a place like this didn’t exist, we wouldn’t be able to be here.” Your support ensures that families like Eric’s can access life-changing medical care while staying together. When you give today, you’re not just providing a room — you’re offering a lifeline to families facing incredible challenges. Thank you!
