Job Title: Community Engagement Coordinator

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, 40 hours per week
Schedule: Mon – Fri, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (schedule flexibility for events, meetings, & offsite engagements on nights and weekends)
Hourly Rate: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

Position Summary
Our mission at the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California (RMHCSC) is to provide comfort, care and support to children and families in Southern California. To achieve our vision of creating a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm and joy, RMHCSC operates six Ronald McDonald Houses and three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, along with Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times.

The Community Engagement Coordinator at the Ronald McDonald House Inland Empire plays a vital role in maintaining relationships with key community stakeholders, including volunteers, civic organizations, and businesses. The Community Engagement Coordinator works directly with these stakeholders to drive individual and group volunteerism, offsite supply and donation drives, and other support opportunities at Ronald McDonald House Inland Empire.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a portfolio of 150-200 individual and organizational contacts in Raiser’s Edge NXT to track and develop stakeholder relationships.
- Act as a first point of contact for volunteer and community event inquiries submitted by phone and email.
- Represent the organization at community events benefiting the program.
- Facilitate supply and donation drives in partnership with local businesses and community organizations.
- Working with other Development and Operations Staff, plan and execute solicitations of donations from your portfolio in support of the Ronald McDonald House Inland Empire’s fundraising goals.
Community Engagements
- In collaboration with the Operations Coordinator, Guest Services, design and implement impactful onsite and offsite activations for interested community partners, including supply drives, seasonal activity groups,
- Give in-person and virtual presentations to current and prospective stakeholder organizations about “How to Get Involved.”
- Facilitate the submission of grants and funding proposals to organizations in your portfolio, as appropriate.
Volunteer Program
Recruitment and Cultivation
- Identify, recruit, onboard and cultivate volunteers from the community, local businesses, and civic organizations to support the program’s key volunteer opportunities: Meals of Love, events, and onsite volunteers.
- Conduct twice-monthly “Volunteer Info Sessions” to recruit and begin onboarding of new individual volunteers.
- Design, maintain, distribute, collect, and review of the findings from the annual Volunteer Experience Surveys.
- In collaboration with the Special Events Manager, identify volunteers for House and community events and facilitate the annual Donor and Volunteer Appreciation event.
- Organize and host two bi-annual Volunteer Townhall meetings.
- Collaborate with the Development Associate and Major Gifts Officer to identify and cultivate volunteers to convert to donors.
Administrative/Programmatic Support
- Build and maintain a pipeline of volunteers to provide a consistent schedule of impactful onsite volunteer experiences for groups and individuals.
- Update and maintain Volunteer Program handbook and training material.
- Maintain and assess detailed records of Volunteer service, including volunteer hours, volunteer impact and volunteer program participation rates.
- Prepare monthly qualitative and quantitative Volunteer reports in support of internal and external communication needs.
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with team members in the Facilities, Operations, and Development departments to provide stakeholders a seamless volunteer experience by reporting out on volunteer feedback.
- Be an active participant in the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California Volunteer Cohort.

Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Non-Profit Management, Education, Social Work, Communications, or a related field
- Two plus (2+) years of experience in community engagement, volunteer management, program delivery, or event coordination, preferably in a non-profit setting.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse groups.
- Experience working with a diverse population, an understanding of the needs of our vulnerable clientele
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, and Canva. Experience with volunteer management or donor database online tools is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Language Skills
Ability to read, write, and interpret general business correspondence, reports, and procedure manuals. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
Computer Skills
Preferred experience using modern office productivity tools, including but not limited to Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Canva, and comparable platforms. Comfort working with databases and administrative systems; experience with nonprofit environments preferred.
Mathematical Skills
Basic mathematical skills for volunteer tracking and budget management.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record required to operate company vehicles, as needed.
