Our mission at the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California (RMHCSC) is to provide comfort, care, and support to children and families with seriously ill children, creating a “home away from home” for these families while their children receive extended medical treatments. One of the few organizations created explicitly to support caregivers of children undergoing treatment for severe injuries or illness, RMHCSC provides shelter and supportive services to more than 8500 family members whose children are accessing life-saving pediatric treatments at more than 26 renowned hospitals in Southern California. The Senior Database Coordinator is a new position designed to increase fundraising by optimizing the organization’s CRM for improved data health, data analyses, data-driven strategy formulation, and overall fundraising operations improvements. The Senior Database Coordinator is a vital member of the Development Team with a core responsibility to manage the fundraising database, gift entry, and acknowledgment processes. The Senior Database Coordinator informs and monitors policies and procedures; manages the software portion of the development budget; establishes team, individual, and project goals; and exercises strong project and performance management. This position is full-time, non-exempt, and reports to the Development Manager. Depending on productivity results, this role may work remotely but may be required to work in the Los Angeles office for up to three days weekly.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Database & Data Health

  1. Optimally configure and manage donor database (Blackbaud RE & NXT) to support prospect and donor relationship management and drive strategic fundraising and partner stewardship initiatives.
  2. Manage software upgrades, integrations, and future conversions.
  3. Maintain the gift processing software for donor acknowledgments.
  4. Reconcile and oversee donation records in coordination with the Finance Department reports.
  5. Monitor data integrity through regular database audits, identifying and researching any discrepancies.
  6. Ensure accurate donation tracking and credit by staying current on fundraising efforts.
  7. Design and implement database queries, exports, and reports to report on gifts, pledges, progress towards fundraising goals, and other financial data regularly and as needed
  8. Import gift information for events and web donations, and monitor and correct for data hygiene and duplicate entries
  9. Conduct data analysis and reports contributing to strategic fundraising goals and data health.
  10. Monitor processes and procedures relating to gift entry, acknowledgments, and other fundraising operations and inform changes that lead to effectiveness and efficiency.
  11. Assist with the administration of data hygiene and data enrichment tools, such as NCOA and prospect research.
  12. Ensure confidentiality of Raiser’s Edge data, including addresses and donor records.
  13. Resolve duplicate and incomplete records regularly.
  14. Configure new funds, campaigns, and appeals yearly.
  15. Make yearly adjustments to reporting tools outside of Raiser’s Edge.
  16. Audit constituent codes regularly to ensure relevancy.
  17. Analyze and adjust past data to align with current reports.

Fundraising strategy

  1. Develop projections models for fundraising strategies based on donor behavior and data analyses.
  2. Manage annual wealth screening and prospect identification.
  3. Establish evaluation mechanisms to ensure mid & long-term fundraising health.
  4. Track annual fundraising goals in RENXT, and create dashboards to monitor fundraising goals
  5. Implement a system to track and monitor board give-get goals and fundraising progress for the Board of Directors, generating a quarterly report.

Leadership

  1. Serve as a member of the Program Support Center (PSC) development team by supporting the team's overall success through strategy, collaboration, proactive problem-solving, and exhibiting cross-functional leadership.
  2. Serve as PSC representative on the Administrative Coordinator Cohort, advising on relevant subject matter and taking notes for the PSC Development team.
  3. Serve as subject matter expert on Blackbaud and other fundraising products, acting as an internal consultant to leverage product enhancements and strategies to improve fundraising performance.
  4. Oversee and Implement training for all database users across the chapter.
  5. Stay informed about the latest trends and advancements in database management and fundraising technology.
  6. Attend relevant workshops and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in database administration and nonprofit development. Raiser’s Edge NXT Professional Certification Required
  • Experience interacting with people from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Deep understanding of prospect research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement best practices in annual fund development.
  • Experience building data-driven stewardship strategies.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Raiser’s Edge NXT Professional Certification Required

Computer Skills:

  • Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Power Automate experience is recommended

We are seeking a dedicated individual who possesses an exceptional passion for details, data management, and can track their workflow against goals and deliverables. A foundational knowledge of accounting procedures is essential, along with a proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff. Detail orientation is a must, coupled with exceptional data processing skills that enable the candidate to handle complex information accurately and efficiently.

In addition to technical expertise, we require strong interpersonal skills that extend beyond the screen. The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of the intricacies involved in donor interactions and the ability to uphold positive relationships through our technology and systems are crucial elements of this position.

The role demands clear and effective communication skills, both in oral and written forms. The ability to articulate facts and recommendations cogently is crucial, as it facilitates seamless communication within the organization.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to write & update reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various constituent groups, including staff and board members.
  • Spanish-speaking abilities are a plus.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
