Our Houses

Since 1980, the Southern California Ronald McDonald Houses serve as a inexpensive, and often free, “home–away–from–home” for families of critically–ill children undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals and medical facilities.

Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times

Each year Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times serves an average of 1,500 campers who are children with cancer so they can take a break from hospitals and find an opportunity to just be “ordinary kids.”

Family Rooms

Our Ronald McDonald Family Rooms provide an “oasis” within the hospital for parents with children in pediatric or neonatal intensive care units; allowing them a chance to sleep, shower and recharge while remaining within steps of their hospitalized child.

Scholarships & Grants

We support the children of our Southland communities by awarding scholarships to high–achieving high school seniors and providing grants to non–profit organizations working to improve the lives of children.

St. Francis Medical CenterGrants

The Community Grants Board awarded $39,960 to St. Francis Medical Center to purchase supplies for their Healthy Community Initiatives’ mobile care unit.

Dental care given to child
The Smile FactoryGrants

In order to continue providing pre-emptive and restorative dental treatment, the Community Grants Board awarded $54,921 to the non-profit organization to purchase the necessary supplies for children with the greatest need in Riverside County. Due to the direct funding from the grant, approximately 17,000 underprivileged children were screened and 2,000 children were treated from ages 4-11.

In 2008, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California’s Community Grants Board awarded the We Can Pediatric Brain Tumor Network $10,000 to support its family camp program which is specifically designed to uplift, support and educate children with brain cancer and their families.

Horses of the Carousel Ranch
Carousel RanchGrants

In 2007, The Community Grants Board awarded Carousel Ranch $7,900 to purchase a 13-year-old Fjord horse and provide it with training, tack and shoeing for one year. Named Annabelle, the horse is able to handle larger youth, or if necessary, both an instructor and a student. As a result of this funding, children can continue to improve their physical, cognitive and social skills by riding and taking care of a horse.

Miller Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Long Beach Memorial Medical CenterGrants

In 2008, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California’s Community Grants Board awarded the Long Beach Memorial Medical Center a $40,000 grant to purchase two GE Medical Giraffe Incubators for the Miller Children’s Hospital NICU. The incubator utilizes state-of-the-art technology to provide the caregiver with control of each patient’s environmental conditions, creating surroundings that are similar to the mother’s womb.
