FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time (Tuesday-Saturday Schedule)
Salary Range: $24.50 to $29.00 per hour

Summary:
Our mission at the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California (RMHCSC) is to provide comfort, care, and support to children and families in Southern California. To achieve our vision of creating a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, and joy, RMHCSC operates seven Ronald McDonald Houses and three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, along with Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times. Ronald McDonald House Pasadena (RMH Pasadena) is located just steps away from Huntington Health and Shriners for Children Medical Center and provides a home-away-from-home for up to 15 families every night.


The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for fostering relationships between RMH Pasadena and the local community through volunteerism and in-kind donations. The role is responsible for recruitment, coordination, and retention of individual and group volunteers to support the mission and enhance services. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to engage community members, services organizations, and local businesses to enhance community involvement and support for RMH Pasadena.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Volunteer Recruitment and Coordination
    • Act as a first point of contact for volunteer inquiries submitted by phone and email, answering questions and providing information as needed.
    • Work with the Operations Director and Guest Services Associates to identify areas where individual/group volunteer support can help meet facility and family needs.
    • Onboard, schedule, train, and supervise individual volunteers.
    • Oversee day-of coordination for group volunteer events, including Meals of Love, Baking with Love, Days of Service, and other activities.
    • Serve as staff liaison to Volunteer Ambassadors group.
    • Create internal calendars for House programming and volunteer activities.
       
  • Volunteer Recognition and Retention
    • Develop and implement programs to recognize and reward volunteer contributions, including events and acknowledgment initiatives.
    • Monitor volunteer satisfaction and retention and address any concerns or feedback to improve the volunteer experience.
    • Facilitate a pipeline of volunteers to become donors, Circle of Healing members, Walk for Kids fundraisers, community advocates, and Board members.
       
  • In-Kind Donations and Services
    • Identify and engage potential community partners to request in-kind donations of goods and services.
    • Coordinate and schedule donations of in-kind goods and services.
       
  • Event Support
    • Recruit and manage volunteers to support fundraising events, including the annual SHINE Gala and Walk for Kids.
    • Work with the Volunteer Ambassadors group to plan and execute community events, including Trunk or Treat and Spring Eggstravaganza.
    • Assist with the solicitation, collection, and tracking of in-kind donations for the SHINE Gala silent and live auctions.
       
  • Community Outreach and Communications
    • Respond to inquiries from community members regarding how to get involved.
    • Represent RMH Pasadena at community events, meetings, and networking opportunities to raise awareness and foster partnerships.
    • Support the Development Manager with the creation of content for our social media channels related to volunteer activities and community engagement.
    • Create and maintain collateral for volunteer programs utilizing Canva, Constant Contact, and other online tools.
  • Data Management and Reporting
    • Utilize CRM tools (Raiser’s Edge and VolunteerHub) as determined.
    • Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, activities, and contact information.
    • Track and analyze volunteer metrics, such as participation rates and program impact.
    • Prepare and present regular reports on volunteer activities and program effectiveness to leadership and board.
    • Serve as an active member of RMHCSC Chapter-wide Volunteer Cohort
       
  • Education and Experience
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred in Non-Profit Management, Education, Social Work, Communications, or a related field
    • Experience: 2+ years of experience in community engagement, volunteer management, program delivery, or event coordination, preferably in a non-profit setting.
       
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse groups.
    • Experience working with a diverse population, an understanding of the needs of our vulnerable clientele
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, and Canva. Experience with volunteer management or donor database online tools is preferred.
    • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Must work Tuesday-Saturday schedule. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as needed.
    •  Must possess a valid CA driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Language and Mathematical Skills
    • Ability to write clear and effective reports, marketing materials, and procedure manuals
    • Basic mathematical skills for volunteer tracking and budget management.
    •  Spanish language skills are a plus.
       
  • Physical and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed. Work environment includes office settings and community events, which may involve irregular hours and moderate noise levels.
