Camp Doctor

The Camp Doctor oversees all medical situations that may arise in the Camp population; supervises all medical procedures; prescription of medication and treatments; reviews the orientation of Camp program staff on the specific care needs of attending campers. The Camp Doctor, along with the Camp Charge Nurse and Camp Director, is a member of the Camp Emergency Response Team. Volunteer doctors provide direct care for up to 120 children, dealing with the normal injuries and illnesses which occur at Camp and overseeing the medications and special medical needs of young cancer patients (1 - 2 per session).
REQUIREMENTS - M.D.'s with Pediatric Oncology or Emergency Care Background or Pediatricians. Licensed in the State of California. 2 - 7 Day Summer Commitment, 3 or 4 Day Weekend Commitment in Spring, Fall and/or Winter.  

Med Shed Charge Nurse

The responsibilities of the Camp Charge Nurse begin with the review of camper applications prior to the camp session; along with the Camp Doctor, brief and orient Camp program staff on the specific care needs of attending campers; oversee the organization, administration and documentation of camper and staff medications; respond to camper and staff drop-in visits. In the case a camper requires care beyond the scope of Camp, the Charge Nurse coordinates with the Camp Director and Camp Doctor to secure transportation and treatment.
REQUIREMENTS – Registered Nurses with Pediatric Oncology or Emergency Care Backgrounds. Licensed in the State of California.  2 - 7 day Summer Commitment.  3 or 4 Day Weekend Commitment in Spring, Fall and/or Winter.  

Camp Nurse

Camp Nurses provide treatment as directed by the Camp Doctor and provide care to campers. Routine tasks include daily dispensing and documenting camper and staff medications; support and supervision of camper central venous catheter care; respond to camper and staff drop-in visits for everything from splinters, fevers, and tummy aches to potentially serious accidents or illnesses. Volunteer nurses work with the volunteer doctors to handle all medications and medical situations.  (3 - 4 per session) 
REQUIREMENTS – Registered Nurses with Pediatric Oncology or Emergency Care Backgrounds.  All nursing specialties welcome. Licensed in the State of California preferred. 2 - 7 day Summer Commitment.  3 or 4 Day Weekend Commitment in Spring, Fall and/or Winter.
