WILD, WILD HORSES

COULDN’T DRAG ME AWAY!

Well said by The Rolling Stones and now……Yes! Summer 2024 you will want to be a part of this experience for the first time!

Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times (including the Camps that lease our site) announces the opportunity for HORSE PROGRAM ACTIVITY COUNSELOR recruitment starting this Spring, 2024!!

Corrie and the Wranglers need your help!

Three to Four (3-4) returning Volunteer Counselors are needed each session to be part of a brand new horse experience for all the Campers who come to camp this summer:

Oasis – June 15th –June 22nd

Session 1 – June 26th – July 3rd

Session 2 – July 6th – July 13th

Session 3 – July 16th – July 23rd

Session 4 – July 26th – August 2nd

What’s new?

It’s been in the works since 2022, but summer 2024 is putting Mindfulness with horses as the focus of the program, and offering our campers a very unique experience that has the potential to add a meaningful exchange between horse and human.

No horse experience is necessary! HPACs will be sidewalking the youngest unit Campers while they are riding horses, playing horsey games with some Campers in the cabin while other Campers are with the horses, guiding campers through a mindfulness experience with the horse (Yes, we will do some training for this!), and I guarantee that each HPAC will learn new things about themselves and gain their own mindfulness.

Training

HPACs will have specialized training to enhance the experience of the camper and themselves. Two certified instructors will be your guest trainers, one in mindfulness and the other in equine therapy, who are so excited to be a part of this new venture.

Each HPAC will be required to attend a workshop that will take place on ONE of two Saturdays during our spring family camps:

Saturday, May 4:  At camp from 10am-2pm OR

Saturday, May 11- At camp from 10am-2pm

Also, all HPACs are required to attend Staff Development & Training to receive hands-on training with the horses and our equine therapist. This will also include training on camper pick-up day to button up any horse program needs.

After you sign up for training, Corrie will call YOU and go over any concerns or questions and important information about what the experience will be.

PLEASE NOTE:

We have three additional lease groups who will also be participating in Camps’ Horse program. Two of these programs run a pre session Staff Development & Training. PLEASE plan to arrive on the first day of the session, by 10:00am for onsite training, as these programs will be riding the next day.

June 7th – June 12th -- Camp4Kids – Pediatric oncology patients from Children’s Hospital Orange Country.

August 3rd – August 9th -- MDA – Camp for kids with Muscular Dystrophy. Camp session:
