Ronald McDonald House® Orange County (RMHOC) and Ronald McDonald Family Room® (RMFR) Programs honored incredible volunteers at OneOC’s 48th Annual Spirit of Volunteerism Awards, along with numerous organizations in Orange County.
Our mission to provide comfort, care and support could not be accomplished without the stellar volunteers who give of their time, talents and hearts. This year, we honored four nominees amongst our Orange County programs at the Spirit of Volunteerism Awards – thank you for your dedication, care and love for our families and mission!
RMHOC Individual Volunteer Honoree: Kathy Tracy
Kathy's journey with us began in 2018, following six years of invaluable service as a Ronald McDonald House® volunteer in Chicago As a Core Volunteer, she helps with House tours, phone calls, keeping common spaces clean, assisting families with general questions and requests, representing the charity at outreach events, and more. She enjoys connecting with the families we serve as well as with her fellow volunteers.
As years have gone by, Kathy’s support has grown into committee membership for our Capital Campaign. She uses her love for the charity to educate and inspire others to support our growth. Soon those efforts will be fully visible as our doors reopen in the summer of 2024!
RMHOC Group Volunteer Honoree: Assisteens of Orange
Assisteens of Orange have volunteered with RMHOC for more than a decade! Their journey began with our Meal of Love program. What began as a single act of kindness soon evolved into a regular monthly occurrence. They have generously provided over 122 meals to our families, pouring in over 1,000 hours of their time to various tasks within the House and special events.
Even during the most challenging times, they don’t hesitate to pivot and adapt – such as crafting Family Movie Night baskets to that families could still find joy and togetherness during the recent shutdown. Their impact goes beyond volunteer hours; through their thoughtful actions, they have helped foster a sense of normalcy during a period of unprecedented stress and uncertainty.
RMFR at CHOC at Mission Hospital Volunteer Honoree: Don Roberts
Don has been a faithful volunteer of RMFR at CHOC at Mission Hospital, volunteering three times a week. His relationships with the families and those at the hospital help our mission to thrive!
RMFR at CHOC Volunteer Honoree: Mindy Pera
Mindy's heart for serving others met RFMR after two decades of her career as a respiratory therapist. Mindy's willingness to tackle any challenge has been invaluable to our operations.
